Strategy

The Fund focuses on investing in under-researched, publicly traded small-cap companies that generate earnings above consensus expectations. The strategy is grounded in the behavioural finance concept of post-earnings announcement drift, aiming to capitalise on the market’s tendency to underestimate positive earnings surprises and the persistence of continued earnings growth.

It follows a bottom-up, fundamentals-based stock selection approach, concentrating on companies within the Russell Smallcap universe that demonstrate positive earnings, rather than the more speculative non-earning companies that represent a significant portion of the index. The Fund also emphasises businesses with strong financial characteristics, including consistent free cash flow generation and solid balance sheets.

The fund is managed by Kenneth S. Farsalas, CFA, Lead Portfolio Manager and Director of US Equities, who brings 32 years of industry experience including 21 years with Oberweis, and David I. Covas, CFA, Portfolio Manager, who has 28 years of industry experience entirely with Oberweis Asset Management. Both portfolio managers are principals and owners of the firm, ensuring strong alignment of interests with investors.
