Strategy

The Fund focuses on investing in under-researched, publicly traded micro-cap companies that generate earnings above consensus expectations. The strategy is grounded in the behavioural finance concept of post-earnings announcement drift, seeking to capitalise on the market’s tendency to underestimate positive earnings surprises and the persistence of subsequent earnings growth.

It employs a bottom-up, fundamentals-based stock selection process, with a particular focus on small companies within the Russell Microcap universe that demonstrate positive earnings, rather than the more speculative non-earning companies that comprise a significant portion of the index. The Fund further emphasises businesses with strong fundamentals, including consistent free cash flow generation and robust balance sheets.

The fund is managed by Kenneth S. Farsalas, CFA, Lead Portfolio Manager and Director of US Equities, who brings 32 years of industry experience including 21 years with Oberweis, and David I. Covas, CFA, Portfolio Manager, who has 28 years of industry experience entirely with Oberweis Asset Management. Both portfolio managers are principals and owners of the firm, ensuring strong alignment of interests with investors.
